With Indian manufacturing increasing, its demand for even more sophisticated machine tools has also climbed steadily, growing at a fine tempo to match increasing profits from high-quality machining, milling, and metalwork. In the December 2017 update from the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), a trust established by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, manufacturing is shown to have reached US$ 311.6 billion in 2017. Oriental Plants & Equipments Pvt. Ltd.
FERMAT’s customer, Oriental Plants & Equipments Pvt. Ltd. (OPEL), is based in Coimbatore, India. The bustling metropolis, a major manufacturing center in South India, embraces factories of every sort producing textiles, motors, pumps, auto components, as well as light and heavy machinery. The city was founded along an ancient trade route connecting this important commercial area to far-away cities in the Roman Empire, a conduit of commerce and cultural exchange.

OPEL continues the millennia-old business savvy with proper introspection and resolute action, adding another powerful and precise FERMAT horizontal boring mill to its army of machines (the factory runs over 70 CNC machines—it’s a big operation). OPEL was FERMAT’s first customer in India, purchasing the father of today’s WFT 13 CNC back in 2010. So, relying on the cost-effective, outstanding performance of FERMAT’s milling and machining, OPEL can drive its vast manufacturing capabilities even higher and rake in more profits.
OPEL has excelled over the years in its metalwork, milling, and machining, building an international customer base across economic sectors and industries. OPEL manufactures vital parts used in creating and maintaining those marvelous machines that drive our modern economy, whether it’s in heavy machinery or earth moving equipment, wind turbines, valves, automobiles or railway engines and rolling stock.
FERMAT’s new WFT 13 CNC in India
This machine borrows the great standard features of FERMAT’s most popular table-type horizontal boring mill and adds a few twists that quicken production and sharpen precision. Built on box ways (X axis of 5 meters, Y axis 3.5 meters, and Z axis 2 meters) and sporting a spindle travel of 730 mm, this FERMAT WFT 13 has a 60-tool ATC, 70-bar through-spindle coolant, and fantastically-exact Heidenhain scales on X, Y, and Z axes.
While the customer was in Brno for the pre-acceptance of his machine, Russ Karimov, FERMAT’s Sales Manager for India, took him out for a taste of Indian cuisine at a local restaurant run by Indian immigrants known for their adherence to authentic, spicy recipes.
Mr. Karimov’s tip for the best, most genuine Tandoori Chicken in Brno: go to the restaurant Satyam. You won’t regret it.
