G. I. Joe with Kung Fu Grip

FERMAT was one of the first manufacturers of horizontal boring mills to give its customers the option of substituting a standard automatic tool changer (ATC) with a fast and efficient KUKA robot tool changer.

FERMAT’s WFT 13 CNC table type horizontal boring mill with a KUKA robot tool changer.

Although an ATC is still an excellent choice, a KUKA robot changes tools weighing up to 75 kg directly into spindles, milling heads, and spindle support sleeves, quickly and effectively, and requires very low maintenance.  The fact that FERMAT has installed over 100 KUKA robots with satisfied customers worldwide speaks to its overwhelming popularity.

A little levity and a wild ride

Below is a video of FERMAT’s PLC programmer, Petr Horky, getting thrashed about on a KUKA robot, learning first-hand what it’s like to be put through the same moves he programs for his cutting tools.
