Sam Sikandar, International Trade Officer & Corporate Legal Adviser for LUCAS, a FERMAT Group company

September 19, 2017

Mr. Sam Sikandar, International Trade Officer and Corporate Legal Adviser for LUCAS, a FERMAT Group company, joined the firm in the spring of 2017.  His responsibility of growing LUCAS’s dealership network has taken off recently with forging new strategic partnerships, securing a transaction in the Americas for the oil and gas industry, and giving President Theron R. Horn, Jr., of Orca Machine Tools, Inc., and Senior Manager Greg Sweigert of Atherton Machinery, a Division of Raco Industrial, a personal tour last week of FERMAT’s manufacturing facilities in Prague, Lipnik nad Becvou, and Brno, Czech Republic.

Even though nothing excites him more than machine tools, industry and law, he did take time to relax, kick back and enjoy with his guests the more entertaining elements of culture and history of his new adopted hometown, Prague.

Top of the itinerary was, naturally, Prague Castle, which dominates a ridge overlooking a major European trade route thousands of years old. This hilltop fortification has been transformed into one of the largest castle complexes in the world, boasting architectural beauty spanning from Romanesque through Gothic, Baroque, and Classicism to early modern renovations by Slovene architect and urban planner, Joze Plecnik.

In describing last week, Mr. Sikandar remarked, “Although the trip to Brno was mainly business, showing the factories, the parts and the many processes used in building such powerful and precise machine tools, the Prague trip was much more laid back.  Personally, my favorite part was enjoying the view of Charles Bridge while discussing our respective backgrounds over Czech Beer, at Lavka Cafe.  The Czech Republic is full of wonderful sites.  It’s a real joy to work and live here.”

Without skipping a beat, Mr. Sikandar is off to Hannover, Germany, this week to participate in FERMAT’s exhibition at EMO.  “It’s a real draw to see first-hand such a major machine tool and metalworking trade fair,” he stated.  Adding, “I’m looking forward to it, and to many professional contacts I’ll make.  And, hey, also I’d like to check out the town.  Hannover, here I come.”
