In a nod to the growing demand for machining huge components used in heavy industry, transportation, construction, and power generation, FERMAT developed a tilting headstock with exquisite performance, able to mill and machine gigantic workpieces of iron and steel at angles unlocking manufacturing potential for big-ticket profits.
FERMAT’s WRF series floor-type horizontal boring mills
This optional tilting headstock is for FERMAT’s large floor-type horizontal boring mills with spindle diameter of 150 mm or 160 mm. With a spindle extension of 1 meter and a ram stroke of 1.5 meters, milling and machining deep into the center of the workpiece weighing up to 100 metric tons is a snap. And, with FERMAT’s tilting headstock, which tilts at angle of 0° to -8°, you can execute various machining techniques without needing to reset the workpiece, saving time and money.
Tilting headstock (0° to -8°)
Rotary encoders guarantee the accuracy of FERMAT’s tilting headstock, which is locked into place by hydraulic brakes anywhere between the absolute horizontal position of 0° and -8°. Though, this type of headstock was designed especially for FERMAT’s customers manufacturing parts for wind turbines and offshore industries, it opens up a wide range of applications across a spectrum of modern industries.
